Hamilton North Public Library COVID-19 Safety Protocol
Posted May 11, 2020
In the effort to ensure a safe environment for employees and patrons, the following actions are being taken to minimize the chance of spreading the COVID-19 virus.
Employee Health Screening: All employees are required to notify the Director and/or Manager if they have a fever of 100 degrees or more and/or have other CDC recognized symptoms of COVID-19 not caused by known allergies or other non-contagious conditions. The employee will be asked to stay at home or to go home if at work and call in for further guidance. The Director will follow recommendations made by the CDC, the Hamilton County Health Department and/or a healthcare provider when determining when to allow the employee to return to work. The employee will work remotely from home when possible and/or use appropriate leaves.
Enhanced Cleaning: Surfaces are cleaned based on use. Surfaces that are touched frequently will be cleaned more frequently than other surfaces, as reasonable. Library materials will be cleaned before being made available to the next customer. Children’s play materials will be unavailable or limited.
Social Distancing and Hygiene Measures: All library employees are required to practice frequent handwashing and will wear masks when in the vicinity of other staff and at all times in public areas when the library is open. Social distancing of 6 feet or more will be maintained when possible. Barriers will be placed at circulations desks for the safety of both staff and patrons to ensure social distancing and enhanced protection. Seating will be limited and spaced at least 6 feet from other seating. Meetings, gatherings, events and programs, when allowed, will require the ability of social distancing to be maintained. HNPL staff and patrons will have access to multiple restrooms with hand-washing procedure guidelines posted at the sinks. Hand sanitizer will be made available, as possible.
