Reciprocal Borrowing Information

Now that you have a Hamilton North Public Library card, you qualify to use other Hamilton County libraries as well — we call this reciprocal borrowing. If you keep your library account in good standing ($10 or less in fines and fewer than 15 overdue items), you can visit other Hamilton County libraries to ask that they enter you into their system as a reciprocal

Borrower; bring your HNPL card with you when you go.

In addition to borrowing materials at any public library in Hamilton County, cardholders are able to attend programs and use various services offered by other Hamilton County public libraries.

As a reciprocal card holder, you may have the added convenience of being able to use the library closest to home.

Please note, any item checked out at a reciprocal library that is not a member of Evergreen Indiana must be returned to the library at which it was checked out. Since Westfield Public Library and Hamilton North Public Library are Evergreen libraries, any materials that you check out at one, may be returned to the other.

Reciprocal borrowers might not have access to another library’s downloadable media, e.g. ebooks and digital music. Each library has its own rules regarding reciprocal borrowers’ access to online resources.
